Perfect for beginners or intermediate students who want private instruction to ask a million questions and find out the answers! This is a wonderful opportunity to work directly with a working artist who teaches at national artist retreats and has written articles for Somerset Studio magazine, one of the leading mixed media publications in the United States.
No experience necessary. Cater this workshop to your desired learning! Students can start with basic mixed media collage techniques with acrylic paint, acrylic soft gel and gesso on paper and illustration board. Learn how to glue assorted weights of paper using acrylic soft gel and then delve into the magical world of layering with acrylic paint washes, Then learn simple stenciling techniques, mark marking and application of additional mixed media supplies such as rubber stamping with paint, rubber stamp embossing, sanding back, dry glazing, washes, buffing, adding lettering, etc.
A fun Seattle art workshop for total beginners, but also a great intermediate class for students who want to try some different techniques and explore layout and color with lots of individualized instruction. Work with a specific theme keep it abstract. There are no mistakes in this session. Enjoy the freedom of allowing yourself to play and explore the magic of mixed media collage.
Instructor provides: 2 sheet 8" x 8" watercolor paper, 1 sheet 8" x 8" illustration board, acrylic paints, black and white gesso, soft acrylic gel, assorted brushes, scissors, pencils, graphite transfer paper, decorative collage paper, tissue paper, water, paper towels, rubber stamps, stencils, sandpaper.
Students can bring: covered beverage, apron or old shirt, creativity and bravery.
