No experience necessary. Cater this workshop to your desired learning! Students can start with basic mixed media collage techniques with acrylic paint, acrylic soft gel and gesso on paper and illustration board. Learn how to adhere assorted weights of paper using acrylic soft gel and then delve into the magical world of layering with acrylic paint washes.
Learn how to:
Use acrylic gel for collage
Create unique mark making
Use rubber stamping with paint
Use stencils with gesso
Use overpainting and sandpaper with acrylic paints/collage
Work with dry glazing, dry brushing, buffing, washes
Experiment with hand lettering tools too!
A fun Seattle art workshop for total beginners, but also a great intermediate class for students who want to try some different techniques and explore layout and color with lots of individualized instruction. Work with a specific theme keep it abstract. There are no mistakes in this session. Enjoy the freedom of allowing yourself to play and explore the magic of mixed media collage.
Instructor provides: 1 sheet 9" x 12" watercolor paper, 1 sheet 12" x 12" illustration board, acrylic paints, black and white gesso, soft acrylic gel, assorted brushes, scissors, pencils, graphite transfer paper, decorative collage paper, tissue paper, water, paper towels, rubber stamps, stencils, sandpaper.
Students can bring: covered beverage, apron or old shirt, creativity and bravery and any of their current favorite tools, collage materials or art supplies they have questions about using. OPTIONAL: Students can bring their own canvas or wood panels to work on, 11 x 14 or smaller.
