Whether you are already addicted to stencils or want to discover how to use them in a variety of way, this Seattle art workshop is the one for you! Paint & Stencil Workshop is a fantastic class for artists and non-artists, no experience necessary. All supplies provided. Learn basic mixed media collage and painting techniques with the theme demonstrated: alphabets & words or pick your own theme. Student will work with 3 sheets of 9 x 12 watercolor paper provided (and are welcome to bring a canvas or wood panel too!). The magical world of layering with gesso and paint through stencils is both fun and beautiful.
- background prep options: blind stenciling with gesso, black gesso and dry brushed gesso
- layering with acrylic paint washes
- sanding back
- positive and reverse stenciling with gesso and layering
- problem solving with color and layout
A fun Seattle class for total beginners, but also a great intermediate class for students who want to try some different techniques and explore layout, color and stenciling with lots of individualized instruction.
Instructor provides: 3 sheets 9" x 12" watercolor paper, use of acrylic paints, black and white gesso, assorted brushes and water containers, pencils, paper towels, stencils to borrow, makeup wedges, paper plates, sandpaper.
Students can bring: covered beverage/snacks, apron or old shirt, creativity and bravery, stencils, brushes, paints, etc.
Optional: students may choose to bring their own canvas or wood panel to class, please limit maximum size of panel to 12 x 12 or 11 x 14, your own brushes, paints, stencils.
